The more tools that we have in our toolbox the better when it comes to stress reduction techniques and these techniques will equip you with effective strategies, on to manage stress as a family unit. We are not suggesting the pursuit of perfection, just a well oiled machine, so that everyone in the family is as happy as they can be.

Family mealtimes are an important ritual to catch-up with the latest and greatest news but may not be possible each evening, so then perhaps select one day of the week that works for you all. We all know that when we have teenagers in the house, they schedule their own activities they can ‘double book’ and override family time. Choose a day that all are agreeable to and try your best to stick to it.

Communication is Key:

  • Open the Dialogue: Encourage open and honest communication within your family.
  • Family Meetings Matter: Schedule regular family meetings to discuss challenges, anxieties, and upcoming events. Over Sunday dinner perhaps.

Healthy Habits for a Healthy Home:

  • Sleep is King (and Queen): Prioritize getting enough sleep for everyone in the family
  • Nourish Your Bodies: Focus on a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Avoid processed foods and excessive sugar, which can worsen stress levels.
  • Move Your Bodies Together: Encourage regular physical activity for everyone. Exercise is a natural stress reliever and mood booster.
